Irise International and Irise Institute East Africa (IIEA) launched The Period Equality Network (TPEN) in April 2021. The Period Equality Network is a community for those working on grassroots period equality initiatives in East Africa and beyond. TPEN provides a space where grassroots organisations and those working with them can share resources & learning, access training, and be part of an active community to support their work and advocacy.
In partnership with the Waterloo Foundation, Irise Institute East Africa is seeking for bold and innovative ideas from Period Equality Network potential small charities/non-government organisations and community-based organisations that catalyse significant change in Menstrual Health Management Interventions in Uganda.
The ideas are expected to drive change or demonstrate further learning in practice across these areas:
Successful proposals will receive small grants of up to £2,000 pound sterling for a short period of time, (12 months), to develop and implement their proposed interventions. Up to 5 network members will be awarded in these small grants round.
Successful initiatives will receive clear guidance about what we think works in menstrual health, more resources to develop new and innovative solutions and monitoring and evaluation to support projects effectively.
Applications open on 17th May. The deadline for applications is Saturday 5th June 5:00pm (EAT). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a due diligence phase on 24th June with payments to successful applicants made by 5th July 2021.
