UK aid cuts mean the poorest people in the world, predominantly the most marginalised women and girls, are not going to recover from the pandemic. Over 30 million girls are at-risk of never returning back to school, resulting in child marriage, teenage pregnancy and worsening poverty.
On Thursday 29th July, we will be launching a campaign to ensure these vulnerable girls are not forgotten about. Meeting at Parliament Square, we will be taking pictures near Parliament for a funeral for girls’ futures, sharing stories of young girls across East Africa whose futures are at-risk because of the pandemic. When Parliament is back from recess, we will also be returning to Parliament for a peaceful demonstration to remind the UK Government that we cannot let the futures of these girls slip away (Date TBC).
